Residents of the Mangrove Village have joined local and international efforts to save energy in Earth Hour 2012 on 31st March. After switching off lights at their villas, families and their children gathered at the swimming pool area to participate in the activities that were prepared to reflect the theme of this event, which is considered one of the largest environmental initiatives.
The function was organised by Al Ain Properties, owner of the property, in cooperation with First Gulf Properties, the property management company.
The event included a presentation on the importance of keeping our environment clean by reducing power consumption, and screening a documentary on UAE Earth Hour 2011. Children and their parents took part in forming the number “60” with candles on a sandy open area, followed by a walk in the dark, carrying lanterns.
Abdul Aziz Hussain, CEO of Al Ain Properties, said: “The function is mainly designed for children because we believe that green thinking starts from young and green living starts at home.”
Commenting on the event, Jasim Al Ali, CEO of First Gulf Properties, said; “We believe that Earth Hour is an important initiative towards saving energy, and reiterate that small actions can have a great impact on the well-being of our planet.”
